Pictures of Lily

Lily Monster was adopted from the Pat Brody Shelter for Cats in Lunenburg, Mass., in August of 2000.  We didn't want to saddle her with a cutesy name, but she was so tiny and delicate looking that we wanted a name to suit her.  Our search eventually led us to TV monster comedies, and we decided Lily Munster was a good role model.  So we named her Lily.  Only later did she earn her surname, Monster.

We originally chose her because she was running around the kitten pen with a toy in her mouth, looking playful and adorable.  She untied Gunther's shoes, and proceeded to climb up my braid.  She showed she had a good, strong personality, and chose us as much as we chose her.  Her first, and still favorite game, is fetch - throw a fur-mouse or a shoe lace across the room for her and she will leap after it, pounce on it, and cheerfully bring it back to you in her mouth to be thrown again.

She has proven to be friendly, lovable, sweet and smart (knowing her name and several words, including "mouse," "birdies" and "come"), and is only occasionally a wild beast stalking fur-mice and sun spots on the ceiling.  She is definitely as wonderful a cat as we could have hoped for.
