Hurricane Katrina - Six Years Later
New Orleans, Louisiana

While in New Orleans I wanted to
take a tour of the areas affected by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
Although they offer commercial tours of the Lower Ninth Ward and other
areas, I felt these were rather expensive and exploitative. But
unless one has
transportation it would be very difficult to get out of the city proper
to see some of the other areas of New Orleans. My traveling companion
has relatives that lived in the Lower Ninth prior to Katrina.
They lost everything in the storm, and are in the process of rebuilding
their home, yet they graciously offered to give us a driving tour of
some of the areas most affected by the storm. While looking at
these photos, keep in mind it has been nearly six years since the
Hurricane.
